Katie, 16, is Joan’s granddaughter, and has recently
moved to the Tidewater area in Virginia. She has
studied harp since age 5 with Bette Roth, principal
harpist with the Charlotte NC symphony, with Betsey
Sesler at Queens University in Charlotte, and is now
studying with Elisa Dickon, principal harpist with the
Virginia symphony from 1978-1988. She is also playing
with a harp ensemble group directed by Ms. Dickon.
Katie
has played for many weddings, receptions, open houses,
for churches and corporate events. Her last event
in North Carolina was to play for Lufthansa Airlines,
who paid her with a free roundtrip ticket to anywhere
in Europe! During the summer of 2005 she plans to go
to a language immersion camp in Spain.
She
is looking forward to playing for events in the Williamsburg,
Newport News, Hampton Roads and Norfolk areas.
For
the last 5 ½ years, Katie has sung with an exemplary
choir modelled in the Anglican boychoir style. She has
played harp accompaniments and sung solos with this
group in Charlotte, NC and on tours in the US and in
England. In 2005 she is singing with the Chamber Singers
of the Virginia Children’s Choir.
